Chairperson's Address
Antoinette Stoop

I feel honoured and pleased for the confidence the AGM has awarded me in appointing me to be the Chairperson for the Shar Pei Club of Gauteng for the year 2002.

I want to thank Jenny Hubbard for all her outstanding efforts in the Protection, Preservation and Promotion for the Shar Pei breed over the last years as Chairperson and especially for her fantastic involvement in the Welfare & Rescue Scheme as well as putting together our Sharp-A-News issues, which she has agreed to continue to do this year.

I especially want to thank Peter Searle our President for representing the Shar Pei Club and breed at the D.O.G.S. Provincial Council meetings.

I sincerely wish to thank Mari Brown our Vice President for her continued involvement with the Club and especially her much appreciated efforts towards the Rescue Scheme.

Furthermore I want to congratulate Michelle Kenyon our Vice Chairperson and the Club’s Treasurer for all her effort, in cooperation with the other committee members, to give the Club such a financially healthy position.

I want to thank Anneke van der Walt for her outstanding secretarial commitment over the past year and look forward to working with her this year.

Gary Kenyon, our Show & Trophy Manager has successfully managed our Shows this year and I like to thank him for his efforts and please keep up the good work.

Steve & Anne Whitehouse without your support on & off the field we would not have been as successful in our Open Shows as we were, thanks for your dedication towards the Shar Pei breed and your prize donations for the Shows.

Andre de Villiers & Dorian Tyrrell I want to thank for their positive contribution towards the Club, especially Dorian for again arranging the certificates for our Shows further a special word of thanks must go to Andre for his efforts towards selling the Raffle sheets which have been a major financial contributor to the Club for the past year.

Last but not least my husband Aad a big thank you for creating our Club website this year and supporting me in my efforts to serve the Club and our breed, without you standing behind me I wouldn’t stand here tonight.

I would like to welcome Cobus Vorster and thank him for accepting a position on the Committee.

I feel privileged that I’ve been given the opportunity to lead the Club this year and with enthusiasm & not a 100% but with 150 % of commitment I’ll follow up the Club’s efforts over the past years and will continue the task of educating the public, the veterinarians, and all Shar Pei lovers.

My main goal will stay the Promotion, Protection and Preservation of our Shar Pei.

I have full confidence in our Committee members and look forward working together in further building the Shar Pei Club of Gauteng; I feel that as a Club we can only get stronger and stronger.

Please come along to our Open show on the 2nd June 2002, it will be fun to meet up with you again and also to meet with our new Shar Pei Club Members.  The entire Committee will be present to chat with you and to assist you with any questions you may have regarding the Shar Pei.  We also love to hear your stories about your Shar Pei.
